Faster, Higher, Stronger

Weightlifters certainly fit the 'stronger' part of the bill, the Women competing in the 48kg category (that's just seven and a half stone) today will lift over twice their own body weight (that's your average Rugby Union flank forward) in the clean and jerk.
Thailand have around 35 athletes competing at the 2012 games, but we think they'll peak very early with their best (and pretty much only gold) medal shot being Panida Khamsri in the Women 48kg.
Many Olympic medal events have very strong gold medal favourites, we think over 50 events out of 302 have one team, or entrant, who is at least 80% likely to win gold (that's a bit like Manchester United's chance to win at home to QPR). If you get your kicks from NOT knowing who's certain to win before the event starts how about today you try the Mens Judo 60kg?
Whilst Uzbek Rishod Sobirov is certainly the favourite, he'll face very stiff competition from at least six other fighters. A real scrap this one, and home fans will also get the chance to cheer on GB outsider for a medal, Ashley Mackenzie.
We'd be really surprised (around 4% surprised to be exact) if Team GB didn't get off the medal mark today, and if you only catch one event, make it the Cycling Road Race. The Manx Missile is certainly favourite, but has only a 41% chance to take the top spot.
